An antimetabolic antibiotic obtained from Streptomyces reseoviridofuscus. It has a role as a metabolite, an antimicrobial agent, an antimetabolite and an antineoplastic agent. It is a non-proteinogenic L-alpha-amino acid and a L-serine derivative. It is a conjugate base of a (2S)-2-ammonio-3-(2-ammonioethoxy)propanoate.
