Olanzapine is a benzodiazepine that is 10H-thieno[2,3-b][1,5]benzodiazepine substituted by a methyl group at position 2 and a 4-methylpiperazin-1-yl group at position 4. It has a role as a histamine antagonist, a serotonergic antagonist, a dopaminergic antagonist, a muscarinic antagonist, an antiemetic, a serotonin uptake inhibitor and a second generation antipsychotic.
