Saintopin is a member of the class of tetracenequinones that is tetracene-5,12-dione in which the hydrogens at positions 1, 3, 8, 10, and 11 have been replaced by hydroxy groups. Isolated from Paecilomyces. It has a role as an intercalator, an antineoplastic agent, an EC 5.99.1.2 (DNA topoisomerase) inhibitor and a fungal metabolite.
