Undecylprodigiosin is a member of the class of tripyrroles that is 1H-pyrrole substituted by (4'-methoxy-1H,5'H-[2,2'-bipyrrol]-5'-ylidene)methyl and undecyl groups at positions 2 and 5, respectively. It is a pigment produced by Stveptomyces coelicolor. It has a role as a radiosensitizing agent, a biological pigment, an antibacterial agent, an antineoplastic agent, an immunosuppressive agent, an apoptosis inducer and a bacterial metabolite. It is an alkaloid, an aromatic ether and a tripyrrole.
