Asukamycin is a polyketide that is a member of the manumycin family of antibiotics and exhibits strong antibacterial, antifungal, and antineoplastic activities. Isolated from from the actinomycete bacterium Streptomyces nodosus subsp. asukaensis. It has a role as an antimicrobial agent, an antibacterial agent, an antineoplastic agent, an antifungal agent and a bacterial metabolite. It is a secondary carboxamide, a polyketide, a tertiary alcohol, an organic heterobicyclic compound, an epoxide and an enamide. It is functionally related to a 4-hydroxyprotoasukamycin.
