Hadacidin is a monocarboxylic acid that is N-hydroxyglycine in which the hydrogen attached to the nitrogen is replaced by a formyl group. It was originally isolated from cultures of Penicillium frequentans. It has a role as an antimicrobial agent, an antineoplastic agent, a teratogenic agent and a Penicillium metabolite. It is an aldehyde, a monocarboxylic acid and a N-hydroxy-alpha-amino-acid.
