It has been isolated from the mycelia of the fungus Cordyceps sinensis. It has a role as a plant metabolite, a fungal metabolite and a phytoestrogen. It is a 7-hydroxyisoflavone and a methoxyisoflavone. It is functionally related to an isoflavone.
