It has a role as a metabolite. It is a tertiary alcohol, a secondary alcohol, a 6-hydroxy monocarboxylic acid, an apo carotenoid sesquiterpenoid, a cyclic ether and an alpha,beta-unsaturated monocarboxylic acid.
