Taiwanin C is a furonaphthodioxole that is furo[3',4':6,7]naphtho[2,3-d][1,3]dioxol-6(8H)-one substituted by a 1,3-benzodioxol-5-yl group at position 5. It is a naturally occurring lignan extracted from Taiwania cryptomerioides and found to be a potential inhibitor of COX2 expression. It has a role as an antineoplastic agent, a platelet aggregation inhibitor and a plant metabolite. It is a lignan, a member of benzodioxoles and a furonaphthodioxole.
