It has a role as an antioxidant, a metabolite, an antibacterial agent, an antineoplastic agent, an antihypertensive agent, an EC 5.99.1.2 (DNA topoisomerase) inhibitor, an angiogenesis modulating agent, a hepatoprotective agent, a neuroprotective agent and an anti-inflammatory agent. It is a pentahydroxyflavone and a 7-hydroxyflavonol.
