Velutin is a dimethoxyflavone that is luteolin in which the hydroxy groups at positions 7 and 3' are replaced by methoxy groups. It has a role as an antioxidant, an antibacterial agent, an anti-allergic agent, a melanin synthesis inhibitor, an anti-inflammatory agent and a plant metabolite. It is a dimethoxyflavone and a dihydroxyflavone. It is functionally related to a 4',5,7-trihydroxy-3'-methoxyflavone.
