Salvigenin is a trimethoxyflavone that is scutellarein in which the hydroxy groups at positions 4', 6, and 7 are replaced by methoxy groups. It has a role as an autophagy inducer, a hypoglycemic agent, an antineoplastic agent, an antilipemic drug, an immunomodulator, a neuroprotective agent, an apoptosis inhibitor and a plant metabolite. It is a trimethoxyflavone and a monohydroxyflavone. It is functionally related to a scutellarein.
