HMN-214 is an N-sulfonylcarboxamide that is N-[(4-methoxyphenyl)sulfonyl]acetamide in which the hydrogen of the NH group is substituted by a 2-[(E)-2-(1-oxidopyridin-4-yl)ethenyl]phenyl group. It is a potent inhibitor of polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) that exhibits antineoplastic activity. It has a role as an EC 2.7.11.21 (polo kinase) inhibitor, an antineoplastic agent, a prodrug and an apoptosis inducer.
