Fraxetin is a hydroxycoumarin that is 6-methoxycoumarin in which the hydrogens at positions 7 and 8 have been replaced by hydroxy groups. It has a role as an Arabidopsis thaliana metabolite, an antioxidant, an antimicrobial agent, an antibacterial agent, a hypoglycemic agent, a hepatoprotective agent, an anti-inflammatory agent, an apoptosis inhibitor and an apoptosis inducer. It is an aromatic ether and a hydroxycoumarin.
