Parbendazole is a member of the class of benzimidazoles that is 1H-benzimidazole substituted by (methoxycarbonyl)amino and butyl groups at positions 2 and 5, respectively. It is a potent inhibitor of microtubule assembly and also exhibits anthelminthic activity. It has a role as an anthelminthic drug, an antinematodal drug, an antineoplastic agent and a microtubule-destabilising agent. It is a member of benzimidazoles and a carbamate ester.
